COLORECTAL SURGERY

The group has advanced surgical expertise in total mesorectal excision for rectal cancer; minimally invasive surgical techniques including laparoscopy, robotic surgery, and transanal endoscopic microsurgery; ileal pouches for ulcerative colitis or familial adenomatous polyposis; sphincter-preserving operations for low rectal cancers; and various approaches to rectal prolapse.

The colorectal surgeons collaborate clinically with gastroenterologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons from other specialties to offer patients with complex colorectal problems an integrated treatment plan. Their academic collaborations with these same colleagues place them at the frontier of research in colorectal diseases.
